2017 is going to be a big year for movies, especially for Stephen King fans. Because two wildly anticipated movies coming out this year happen to be from Stephen King books, The Dark Tower and It. Both films have bounced around for years between directors and all that jazz, and now the films are finally coming out. The trailer for It came out not too long ago but The Dark Tower trailer was only recently released, check them out below…
I’ve only read the first book (and about half the second one) most likely getting distracted along the way by some show which tossed me down a binge spiral, which can happen from time to time, but I never finished the series. But I’m a huge fan of the first book, for those of you who haven’t read The Gunslinger, it’s pretty awesome and it’s not too lengthy so you can definitely finish it before the films release in August. I was extremely excited to see Idris Elba playing Roland. I’m a huge fan of The Wire and I’m a big Idris Elba fan (see him in Beasts of No Nation, pretty crazy to say the least…) I think he’ll do a great job. Matthew McConaughey has clearly been killing it lately so any Dark Tower fan should be excited to see him play The Man in Black. I’m really excited for the movie, as for the trailer… I don’t know, not sure how I feel, I think maybe it kinda gives too much away. Anyway we’re all going to have to wait until the end of summer to see how The Dark Tower is, but I have faith that it will be awesome. Hopefully it will be rated R. Got a feeling we’re going to get a PG-13. Don’t know if there’s any news of a rating yet.
Above is the trailer for the new It remake. I saw the old one way long ago and it was on TV so I definitely didn’t get the full effect of the movie (actually I think it was a mini-series) or remember it to well, but I remember it was totally creepy, I remember Tim Curry was dope as hell and creepy as hell, and I remember the giant spider that looked dumb and ridiculous. I also remember hearing that there was a really weird sewer orgy between the kids in the book… probably a good chance it won’t be in the remake.
Let us know if you are fans of The Dark Tower or It, and let us know what you think about the trailers, and place you’re bets on whether or not the super weird sewer kid orgy from the novel “It” will be in the remake. Also, if you’re reading this Kathy Bates and you become a fan, I’ll hang if you want to hang, no need to do all that other… stuff.
